Property of Om Prakash Chautala worth 3.68 cr attached in DA case

New Delhi, Apr 15 : Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached four immovable properties consisting of flat, plot, residential house and land at New Delhi,Panchkula and Sirsa (Haryana) worth Rs 3.68 Crore of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala under Prevention of Money Laundering Act in a disproportionate asset case.
The central financial agency move comes after the registration of FIR and charge sheet filed by the by Central Bureau of Investigation under various section of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act against Om Prakash Chautala, Abhay Chautala and Ajay Chautala.
In its charge sheet, the CBI alleged that Om Prakash Chautala had allegedly acquired assets disproportionate to his known source of income to the tune of Rs 6,09,79,026 during the checking period from May 24,1993 to May 31,2006.
Investigation also revealed that Abhay Singh Chautala and Ajay Singh Chautala had allegedly acquired assets disproportionate to their known source of income to the tune of Rs 19, 69,82,619 and Rs 27,74,74,260 respectively.
During the ED probe under PMLA, it was revealed that Om Prakash Chautala had acquired immovable properties at New Delhi, Panchkula and also constructed residential house at Sirsa (Haryana) during the period out of the money received from undisclosed sources. Investigation also revealed that Om Prakash Chautala was directly involved in acquisition and projecting various tainted properties as his untainted properties.

“He had also disclosed properties so acquired in the affidavit filed before returning officer in Haryana Vidhan Sabha Election 2005 and 2009 thereby projecting publicly the tainted properties as untainted”, the ED officials said.
Earlier in this case ED had attached properties of Om Prakash Chautala to the tune of Rs 46,96, 000 in the year 2013, which has been confirmed by adjudicating authority.
“A Prosecution Complaint against Om Prakash Chautala was also filed before Special Court on July 17, 2018 and the Court had taken cognizance on November 27, 2018 and total attachment in this case comes to Rs 4.15 Crore”, the ED said in a statement.
