New Delhi, Feb 4 : The newly elected BJP legislator from Jind Krishan Middha on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here in the presence of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
"Today was an important day as I met work's most powerful and reputed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and took his blessings," Mr Middha tweeted along with the photograph of their meeting.
"Prime Minister has encouraged me to march ahead," he wrote in Hindi.
BJP's Krishan Lal Middha wrested the seat polling 50,566 votes in the recent elections while his nearest Independent candidate and Jannayak Janata Party leader Digvijay Chautala got 35,293 votes.
AICC media in charge Randeep Singh Surjewala, known for his rhetoric against BJP and especially Prime Minister Modi, finished third with mere 22,740 votes.
'For Jind bypoll, people used all sorts of cheap and communal politics, but our government moved on the path of development rising above the divisive politics, taking everybody along,' the Chief Minister had tweeted on January 31 after the poll results came in.
The defeat of Surjewala came as a major set back to a section of the Congress party which had hoped to project him as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the state assembly elections due by October-November this year. (UNI)
