Kurukshetra, Jan 19 : Veteran Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader and Pehowa MLA Jaswinder Sandhu passed away at PGI, Chandigarh, on Saturday after a prolonged illness.
The 63-year-old INLD MLA was battling cancer for the past few months.
Sandhu, who was active in politics for the last three decades, was elected to Vidhan Sabha from Pehowa assembly segment in 1991, 1996, 2000 and 2014. He also remained the agriculture minister and was presently the deputy leader of opposition in the current Vidhan Sabha.
His last rites will be performed at his ancestral village Gumthla Gharu near Pehowa on Sunday noon.
Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and INLD state president Ashok Arora have condoled the death of the Pehowa MLA.
Mr Khattar conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of bereaved families and prayed the Almighty that the departed soul might rest in peace. (UNI)
