Covid-19: Gujarat registers 30 more deaths, tally crosses 20K mark

Gandhinagar, Jun 7 : Gujarat reported 30 more deaths and 480 new cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in last 24 hours, taking the overall number of positive cases in the western state to 20,097 including the 1,249 deaths and 13,643 recoveries so far. Ahmedabad alone today surpassed 14,000 mark with regard to the total of number cases and crossed one thousand mark in deaths. There were 319 new recoveries during the last 24 hours. 233 of these were in Ahmedabad, 25 in Vadodara and 36 in Surat. 21 of the deaths occurred in Ahmedabad, two in Surat and one each in Banaskantha, Bharuch, Gandhinagar, Panchmahal, Mahesana, Kutch and Rajkot.

With 318 more new cases, Ahmedabad has a total of the maximum 14275 reported positive cases including the 1015 deaths and 9914 recoveries so far. All the new cases were locals, according to the official bulletin of the health department. A total 5205 cases are active now of which 67 were on ventilator support.

Notably, the first case of the Covid19 infection in the state was detected on March 19 in Rajkot while the first death was reported on March 22 in Surat where 80 deaths have been reported so far. Ahmedabad has seen the maximum 1015 deaths, Gandhinagar 16, Anand and Panchmahal 11 each, Bhavnagar 10,Vadodara 43, Patan, Mahesana 7 each, Aravalli, Banaskantha 6 each, Kutch 5, Kheda, Bharuch, Rajkot 4 each, Sabarkantha, Jamanagar 3 each Mahisagar, Porbandar, Valsad, Botad, Surendranagar 2 each and one each in Junagadh Navsari. So far over 251686 tests have been conducted across the state while 211589 were in quarantine. All the 33 districts in the western state have positive cases. (UNI)
