Gandhinagar, Mar 28: Gujarat has reported nine fresh cases of Novel Coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infected people in the state to 53. A substantial chunk among these was of those who had returned from abroad and those who had come in contact with them.
According to the information received from the COVID-9 dashboard of the state health department on Saturday afternoon, a total of 1019 tests have been conducted so far, of which 53 have been found positive. None has recovered, while three deaths have been registered, of which one each was reported in Surat, Bhavnagar and Ahmedabad.
Two out of them had co-morbid condition due to diabetes, cancer and blood pressure. In addition, all of them were senior citizens. Ahmedabad, which has seen three fresh cases in the past 24 hours, tops the charts with 18 positive cases. Vadodara, which has seen one more new case, has the second highest total of nine COVID-19 positive cases across the state, followed by Rajkot, which has seen three more positive cases to reach eight and Gandhinagar, which also has eight positive patients now, with one new case.
Surat has not seen any news case in the last 24 hours, with its total remaining still at seven, while Bhavnagar and Kutch have one each patient. Mahesana has also seen its first positive case. A total 19,340 people across the state are under the 14-day quarantine period. (UNI)
