Relentless rain in Gujarat dampens festive spirit

Gandhinagar, Sep 29 : Incessant rain on Sunday morning dampened the Navratri spirit here as several 'Garba' organisers have cancelled the events for the first two nights.

'About 103 talukas of 20 districts have witnessed 95 mm of precipitation, especially Lodhika and Rajkot,' MeT department said, adding that the change in the weather is due to low pressure area over Saurashtra.

Till 12 noon, Tankara has seen 74 mm of rainfall, Jamkandorana and Manavadar 79 mm each and Dhoraji 58 mm. 'In the past 24 hours, 176 talukas in all 33 districts have witnessed a total of 139 mm of rainfall with maximum in Patan,' it added.Rain percentage in the state has neared 134 per cent mark.'However, the weather is likely to improve from October 1,' it said.
