Anand, Aug 13 : A three-storeyed building collapsed in Khambhat town of Anand district in Central Gujarat, late on Monday night. No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident that happened at around 2 am. The old building near Jhanda Chowk locality earlier housed a public sector bank and collapsed after the recent downpour. Two to three surrounding buildings also sustained minor damages due to the incident.
Notably, this season of heavy rain has so far claimed 26 lives in incidents of wall/house collapse, across the state. Four people were killed in a wall collapse in Vadodara, and as many as in Bopal in Ahmedabad, eight in Morbi, three girls in a village of Bharuch and four others due to collapse of an old building in Nadiad of Kheda. On Monday also, three people were killed in Bopal of Ahmedabad due to collapse of an overhead water tank.UNI
