Amreli/Morbi, Aug 10: Even as the heavy rain continued to lash several parts of Gujarat, the rain related death toll rose to 22, on Saturday.
Police said that 8 people were crushed to death when a wall collapsed near a city slum in A division area during rain. In another incident, two children died due to drowning in a village near Amreli.
Reports also came that at least eight people died in two incidents of wall/building collapse in Ahmedabad and Nadiad during rain. Three people were also reportedly washed away in Bawadi village while they were trying to cross a flooded river in a tractor. Attempts were on to air lift five others, who are trapped there.
In another incident, a youth was washed away in main Narmada canal in Tharad area of Banaskantha district in North Gujarat. Rescue operations in various flooded and water logged areas across the state were on. UNI
