Even after two days of relentless rain, there is no respite for Gujarat still. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has once again issued a warning of extremely heavy rainfall in Gujarat.
The weather agency has issued heavy rainfall warning for North, Central, South and Saurashtra districts till August 4. Two more deaths were reported in the city on Friday as the toll rose to seven, due to heavy rains and flooding in major parts of the city. Vadodara has affected most. Most of the city areas inundated in flood water. All schools, colleges and government offices remained shot on Friday as well. Dozens of trains and buses to and from Vadodara in Gujarat have also been cancelled. Four days back, Vadodara city and parts of the district were facing severe floods which was caused by extremely heavy downpour of around 500 mm in a single day on July 31.
Till the first half of Thursday, Gujarat received 46.15 per cent of the total annual rainfall, although 18 of its 33 districts remained rainfall deficient. Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Mahisagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka districts have received the least amount of rainfall.
