New Delhi, Dec 12: The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked Justice (retd) HS Bedi, head of the monitoring committee investigating 16 police encounters between 2002 to 2007 in Gujarat, whether he had taken any opinion or advice from the other panel members before submitting the report.
The state government submitted before the three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and also comprising Justices K M Jospeh and Sanjay Kishan Kaul, that the committee had not taken any opinion or advice while submitting its findings in the case.
Noted Hindi film lyricist, Javed Akhtar and veteran journalist, BG Verghese (since expired), had filed the petitions and sought that the report should be submitted to them. The apex court fixed the matter for further hearing to January 9 next year. (UNI)
