Shramik Express trains leaves with 4051 passengers on board

Panaji, May 22 : Special train Shramik Express of Konkan Railways departed from Karmali Railway Station at 2235 hrs on May 21, 2020, carrying 1634 passengers on board to Varanasi. The second train with 1600 passengers left from Karmali Station at 1750 hrs to Ballia in Uttar Pradesh. Collector North R Menaka, IAS, SP North, Special AC Shashank Tripathi, SDM Panaji Vivek and others from district administration were present at the time of departure of train.

Similarly special train left from Margao Railway station with 817 passengers of North eastern states i.e. Tripura, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh today at 1930. Four hundred more passengers of Manipur to board the Shramik Special at Bhopal. SP South Arvind Gawas, IPS; Special Additional Collector, Sanjiv Desai; SP, Sammy Tavares, Mamu Hage, IAS Deputy Collector, Bardez and other senior officers of district administration were present and the entire operation was monitored by District Magistrate South Goa Ajit Roy, IAS. Two buses bearing numbers left from Panajim bus stand at 1800 hrs to bring seafarers stranded in Mumbai.

The whole operation was monitored under overall supervision of Kunal, IAS, Nodal officer for interstate movement cell. The people who boarded on the train were stranded in Goa due to ongoing nationwide lockdown. A proper medical screening and other formalities of the passengers were carried out before they boarded on trains. (UNI)
