Panaji, Mar 18 : The State Election Commission (SEC) on Wednesday advised that all polling booths should be disinfected at the time of election. The advisory issued to polling staff ahead of the March 22, 2020, Zilla Panchayat elections, also urged all government servants engaged in counting of votes to wash their hands after each round of counting.
"Ensure that all polling stations are sanitised and mapping of the polling booths shall be done with disinfectants like phenyl, Lyzol, Dettol. Adequate provisions for washing hands at above mentioned centres should be made available," the advisory said. "Ensure sufficient water supply, storage at polling stations. Contact the primary health centres within respective jurisdiction for collection of first aid kits. On the counting day, the counting personnel are advised to wash their hands after every round," the advisory isued by the Secretary of the Goa State Election Commission Melvyn Vaz said.
There are a total of 1,237 polling boohs spread in two districts of the state. As man as 8.91 lakh eligible voters will cast ballot on March 22, 2020. There are 203 candidates in the fray. (UNI)
