Panaji, Jan 11 : Former MLA and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Goa unit General Secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavade will be declared as state president of the party's state unit, a senior party official said on Saturday. Speaking to reporters, party's returning officer for the presidential election Govind Parvatkar said the formal announcement would be made on July 12, 2020. "Tanavade is the only candidate who has been nominated for the post.
And as there is only one candidate, he is elected unopposed. The formal decision and appointment will be done on Sunday in presence of BJP Vice President Avinash Rai Khanna," he said. Mr Tanavade was serving as the general secretary of the BJP state unit for three years. He will take charge from current Vinay Tendulkar who is now Rajya Sabha member.
Mr Tendulkar has served as state president of the BJP for two consecutive terms. (UNI)
