Cong. warns Goa CM for withdrawal of advertisements for vacancies

Panaji, Sep 10: The Congress in Goa on Tuesday alleged that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was playing with the emotions of unemployed youth by directing to withdraw all advertisements issued by various departments for filling up vacancies.

In a statement, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar said the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant's directions to withdraw all advertisements issued by various departments for filling up vacancies was nothing but an act of playing with the sentiments of thousands of unemployed Goan youth and the emotions of their parents and dependents.

Stating that the government just showed the 'carrot of jobs' to the unemployed youth of Goa in the last two years, while keeping an eye on the recently held Lok Sabha elections, Mr Chodankar alleged that the truth was that BJP was not interested to provide employment to anyone with government jobs.

'The false promises given to the mining dependants of resumption of mining was another gimmick of the BJP, in line with the fake promises given by their central leaders of getting back black money and depositing 15 lakhs each in people's accounts. The BJP president Amit Shah himself has gone on record stating that BJP promises are Jumlas. The BJP Government at the Centre and State have completely failed on economic front and their faulty policies have resulted in the collapse of various sectors. The automobile, real estate, manufacturing, agriculture, tourism and all major sectors are facing huge crisis which has resulted in job loss to lakhs of people,' the Congress leader said.

Alleging that the Government was trying to divert the attention of the people with false propaganda of nationalism and patriotism, Mr Chodankar claimed that the BJP government had pushed the Goan economy into the debt trap and they did not have money even to pay in time to the needy beneficiaries of social welfare schemes.

'The BJP Government has a single point agenda of favouritism to their kith and kin and party cadres. The benefits of contracts, jobs etc are made available to close relatives and friends of those in power. This is evident from various examples like CM's relative offered admission in GMC, BJP central leaders' relatives given contracts of roads, pipelines, repairs of stadiums etc and no action initiated despite scams and irregularities coming to the fore, local BJP office bearers son having stake in beach cleaning contract, former CM's sympathiser paid crores in rent for hire of premises by deliberately delaying completion of court complex at Merces etc,' Mr Chodankar claimed.

'The contract of GITM-2019 (Goa International Travel Mart) is also awarded to the agency by tourism department in which one office bearer of political party of NDA is an unofficial partner. It is high time that the people of Goa realise the dirty tricks of the BJP Government. The Congress Party will fight for the rights of the common man and will expose the misdeeds of the Government.

The Congress Party also cautions the Government against playing with the sentiments of the people of Goa, especially with the livelihood of the youth as it could lead to unprecedented unrest,' he said. (UNI)
