Panaji, Aug 8: Due to incessant rains during the last few days, Goa is struggling to cope up with damage caused by the rains and flood situation prevailing in various parts of the state even as weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at many places in the state. In a bulletin, Meteorological Centre, Goa, said,'' Heavy to very heavy rainfall at many places is very likely to occur over North and South Goa on August 8 and 9, 2019.''
Various parts of the cities were struggling to cope up with the situation arisen out of the monsoon rain. Many parts of the state witnessed power cuts. While water released from Tillari dam created grave situation in low lying areas of two villages Mencurem and Sal in Bicholim, Chapoli Dam was brimming on Wednesday. The rain has caused heavy destruction of crops and erosion of fertile top soil.
There were reports of tree falling and land slides as well. The heavy rain has badly affected business as well as inconvenienced people as there was less supply of essential items like milk and vegetables.(UNI)
