Panaji, Aug 1: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that app based taxi is need of the hour and he would welcome if someone also comes up with taxi app. Speaking to reporters after paying tributes to freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak at State Secretariat at Porvorim, near the city, the Chief Minister said,'We are promoting app based taxi service which required in the state. If someone is also coming up with app based taxi we will welcome them. It’s the need of hour.'
On Wednesday Goa Assembly discussed Goa miles, an app based taxi service in the state, for around two and half hours. At the end of the discussion, Chief Minister informed the state assembly that if tourist taxi operators launched their own app, government would extend help, but it was not possible to scrap Goa Miles. Goa Miles is an initiative of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC). However, it is facing opposition from tourist taxi operators.UNI
