NCP MLA withdraws support to Congress in Goa

Panaji, Jul 15 : Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Churchill Alemao has withdrawn support to Congress Legislature Party.

In a letter written to Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr Alemao has said he withdrew support as he was not consulted or informed about any decision taken by the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).

"I would like to inform you that I am withdrawing the support for the Goa Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee. I am disheartened and very sad looking at the GPCC affairs in Goa. I was never taken in confidence neither informed about decisions or planning," he said.

Last week, a group of ten MLAs of Congress broke away from the party and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Thre of the MLAs, including former Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar, were subsequently inducted into Pramod Sawant cabinet.

Alemao layer told mediapersons that he would extend support to the BJP government. from outside.

NCP has a lone MLA in the 40-member Assembly. Congress and NCP had contested separately in the 2017 elections. (UNI)
