Panaji, May 29: Goa Governor Mridula Sinha on Wednesday extended her warm greetings to the people of Goa on the eve of Goa Statehood Day.
In her message the Governor has said, “I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa. May 13 is indeed a memorable day in the political history of Goa, for it was on this day in 1987 when Goa became the 25th State of the Indian Union. Achieving Statehood was a long and much-cherished dream of the people of Goa, which was rightfully fulfilled in a truly democratic manner. Statehood gave to the people of Goa a distinct identity and individuality, besides providing them ample opportunities to shape the destiny of their land.”
The Governor said, “Statehood is a joyous occasion when all Goans can recall with pride, enthusiasm and satisfaction, the significant achievements made by them during the past years. It is also a day to renew our thoughts and re-direct our efforts to achieve much greater progress. Goa has immense potential to become a highly developed State.”
