Panaji, Apr 26 : Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) President Subhash Velinkar will contest Panaji by-election to held on May 19, 2019. Addressing a press conference at a hotel in the city, Mr Velingkar, a former chief of Goa Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) who groomed top leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said the party had urged him to contest the election campaign for which will focus on provision of basic amenities in the city capital.
"The Manch has urged me to campaign to deliver the state capital from the clutches of the BJP, which has crossed all limits of corruption," he said. He said he would ensure that proliferation of casinos, use of drugs and prostitution in the state and the city was stopped. "The proliferation of casinos has led to an increase of drug use and prostitution in Goa and Panaji. This has to be stopped at any cost," he said. Mr Velingkar will file nomination papers on Saturday. (UNI)
