Panaji, Apr 2 : As many as 19 people lost their lives in road accidents in the month of February this year in Goa, according to a monthly report released by Directorate of Transport (DoT) here.
As per the monthly report of number of accidents that occurred and number of Challans issued for the month of February 2019, there were 298 road accidents of which 19 were fatal, 18 grievous, 73 minor and 188 non-injury accidents. Of the 19 fatal accidents, nine had occurred in North Goa and ten in South Goa, of 18 grievous accidents seven occurred in North Goa and 11 in South Goa, of 73 minor accidents 26 had occurred in North Goa and 47 in South Goa and of 188 non-injury accidents, 102 occurred in North Goa and 86 in South Goa. Out of the 19 people who lost their lives due to the fatal accidents, 16 were riders, one pillion rider and one cyclist.
There were 24 people who were grievously injured while 110 people suffered minor injuries. Of the grievously injured 11 were from North Goa and 13 from South Goa while of the 110 people who suffered minor injuries 36 were from North Goa and 74 from South Goa.
A total 6,966 Challans were issued by Transport authorities in the month of February 2019, the report said. UNI
