Sudhir Kandolkar quits BJP, joins Congress

Panaji, Mar 24 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sudhir Kandolkar quit the party on Sunday and later joined Congress in the presence of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar and Leader of Opposition Chandrakant 'Babu' Kavlekar at party office in Mapusa.

Though in his resignation letter addressed to BJP Goa unit President Vinay Tendulkar he has not mentioned reason of resignation but according to sources close to him, he was upset over being denied to contest Mapusa by-poll.

BJP has fielded former Dy Chief Minister Francis D'Souza's son Joshua as its candidate for the by-poll which is to be held on April 23, 2019, along with Lok Sabha elections.

Mr Kandolkar joined Congress along with his 300 supporters.
