Panaji, Nov 8: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar on Thursday accused of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state of cheating mining dependent people in the state and claimed that the coalition government stood exposed.
Reacting to the news report on mining issue, in a statement, he alleged that the BJP had achieved its objective of closing mining in Goa to deprive Bahujan Samaj another source of income.
Claiming that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and his coterie had started the mission since 2007 to stop mining in Goa, the Congress leader alleged that with its own majority, BJP Government at the Centre turning down the demand from Goa Mining dependent for resumption of the mining activity in the state through an ordinance it had become clear that all this while the BJP in Goa was fooling the mining dependant with its multiple trips led by everyone ranging from Chief Minister to Mining Minister to all three MPs to Speaker of Goa Assembly and even the newly inducted Law Minister who claimed to be a champion of mining dependents.
''As recently as last week all these photo ops with BJP National President Amit Shah and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly shows that these politicians were trying to fool people by showing that BJP can override and circumvent Supreme Court decision but all this was a farce,'' he alleged.
Even the recent 'tamasha' by Goa Forward Party (GFP), an alliance partner in the coalition government, where their Supremo petitioned Union Commerce Minister was again a drama, he alleged.
The party reiterated that the judgement of Supreme Court be upheld and demanded that the government immediately restart mining in the state.
Mr Chodankar also demanded resignation of Law Minister, AYUSH Minister and both MPs for their their post. He also sought to know from the BJP difference between Ordinance and Legislative solution, while claiming that BJP chose another way to 'fool' people of Goa after 'fooling' them since 2012. (UNI)
