Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function on Saturday, he said earlier two EMDs -- Sunburn and Time Out-- used to be held. The government also requires revenue. Though still we have not received any application but we require it. As more tourists, international or national may visit the state because of this.'

Stating that nobody had approached him for organising EDMs, he said he would welcome if somebody approached him with a proposal.

He said, however, it was also important that the dues were recovered from the companies which had organised EDMs earlier.

The tourism minister said if earlier organisers cleared their dues their application too could be considered.

He said Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who also holds home portfolio, had been requested to instruct home department to decrease fees charged to EDMs.

Stating that the state required good tourists, Mr Ajgaonkar stressed that there must not be use of drugs during the events and home department must take care of that.

'We do not require tourists who consume drugs nor we require hotels selling drugs. Government and all the MLAs are against drugs,' he said.
