Thane, May 18 : Acclaimed writer and dramatist Ratnakar Matkari passed away here late last night in Mumbai, family members confirmed on Monday. Known for scripting several children's plays, late Matkari profoundly participated in all the dramas held by the Samata Vivhar Prasarak Sanstha in the city. The famous drama Albatya Galbatya, which is based on his book, has made a record of being staged multiple times.
He mainly associated with the Sanstha as it specially organized events and competitions for the street children. Having an emotional leaning towards the destitute children, he demanded to build a separate stage for them so that even they get a fair chance to rehearse. The deceased reasoned that the other artists have all the facilities for practice and performance. However, these children are forced to make use of the public places and streets to sharpen their talent, he remarked.
Late Matkari once said, "The talent in these children needs to be explored, and shown the right path so that they also shine in the field like others." "We cannot afford to ignore them," he affirmed. Mayor Naresh Mhaske had assured him that the civic body would arrange for a platform meant especially for the destitute and deprived children. Mourning his demise, Sanstha members Sanjay M G and Jagdish Khairalia told that the death of Matkari was a great loss to them as well as thousands of children who relied on him for guidance. (UNI)
