Mumbai, Apr 30: Yesteryear Bollywood heartthrob Rishi Kapoor passed away on Thursday morning after a long battle with cancer, sources in the film trade said.

He was 67. 'He's GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away ..I am destroyed !,' Megastar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted.

Kapoor was admitted to H N Reliance hospital on Wednesday after he complained of breathing problems. His wife Neetu Kapoor was by his side.

Law & Justice, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Minister of India, Ravi Shankar Prasad said: “Saddened by the sudden demise of #RishiKapoor who left a profound imprint on Bollywood by his versatile acting. Have grown up watching many of his films since my student days. A great loss to the world of creativity. My sincere condolences! “

Actor Parineeti Chopra wrote on Twitter: “This cannot be true! Rishi sir was my favourite man,and favourite co-star ever! I still remember being nervous around him in Shuddh Desi Romance. He would put me at ease and treat me just like a friend! Will never forget every advice,every joke he told.Red heart #RIP #RishiKapoor”

South India film star, Chiranjeevi noted: “Devastated to know Rishi Ji is no more. A great friend , A great artiste, heartthrob of millions. Carrier of a Great legacy. Feel so heartbroken at this loss. Farewell my friend #RishiKapoor. Rest in peace.”

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said: “In two days, we lost two of Bollywood's best actors (Mr. Irrfan Khan and Mr. Rishi Kapoor). May God give peace to both the departed souls and give their family and fans the power to bear this grief.”
