Malaylam actor Dulquer Salmaan offered apology to a Mumbai journalist for the inadvertent mistake during shooting which resulted in the body-shaming of her.

Chetna Kapoor accused Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan of using her image without consent in the movie ‘Varane Avashyamundu’.

Chetna, a Mumbai-based reporter took to social media to accuse Dulquer Salmaan and the makers of the film for using her picture(her picture displayed in front of a slimming-diet clinic shows her fatty and slim pics as before and after) without consent in one of the scenes. She condemned them for making her a subject of body-shaming and said that a legal suit would follow if they fail to apologise publicly.

Kapoor in a tweet wrote, "Dear @dulQuer @DQsWayfarerFilm Thank you for the feature in your film but I'd like you to excuse me from body-shaming on a public forum. The concerned image was used without my consent & knowledge in your film. I'd like to claim ownership of the same. #VaraneAvashyamund. You have not used it once but twice in your film. If only I knew one of my many achievements would be a part of a Dulquer Salman movie, I would have helped them promote the movie even more."

She posted a screenshot from the movie, which is currently available on Netflix, and she also added that she would pursue legal action against the film’s team.

The movie starring Suresh Gopi and Shobana has used a poster for a weight loss clinic, which shows the woman’s picture in the background. This is Chetana Kapoor’s picture who turned slim with the help of a slimming clinic using strict diet and exercise.

Actor Dulquer Salmaan issued an immediate apology to Kapoor. “We take full responsibility for the error on our behalf. Will look into it with concerned departments of the film to understand how the images were sourced. I apologise from my end and from the film as well as @DQsWayfarerFilm for any difficulties caused. It wasn’t intentional,” he replied to her on Twitter.

The director of the movie Anoop Sathyan too, reached out to Kapoor and apologised to her.

After this, Kapoor said that she has decided to let go of the issue.

Varane Avashyamund is a comedy-drama starring Suresh Gopi, Shobana and Kalyani Priyadarshan in important roles. The film hit the screens on February 7 and garnered good response from the audience.
