Filmmaker Priyadarshan revealed that top Bollywood actors Ayushman Khurrana and Karthik Aaryan have rejected his nex Bollywood project, Hungama 2, which is a sequel to his superhit movie ‘Hungama’.
Priyadarshan in a recent interview revealed that he had initially approached big names like Ayushmann Khurrana and Kartik Aaryan, but both of them showed interest in the project.
Later, Priyadarshan brought a rather new face Meezaan Jaffery who is only one film old to play the lead in Hungama 2.
He said popular stars of Bollywood must have thought he is an outdated director.
"I narrated concept to a lot of actors like Ayushmann Khurrana, Kartik Aaryan and Siddharth Malhotra. They all refused to do the film (Hungama 2). Now, I am working with Meezaan. They all refused because maybe they thought I am an outdated director, because I was out of the Hindi film industry for five years," Priyadarshan said to PTI.
Priyadarshan, a passionate film maker has done 95 films which include Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
His most notable movies in Hindi include Virasat, Hera Pheri, Hungama, Hulchul, Chup Chup Ke and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, among others. The director said he prefers working with actors who believe in his conviction.
His last film, one of the most expensive Malayalam films made with Rs.100 crore, Kunjalimarakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham and starring Mohanlal, could not release due to Covid19 pandemic.
