DUBAI: One of the world’s most important film festivals, the Cannes International Film Festival most likely to be cancelled due to Covid19 Pandemic.
In March, organizers announced the event will be held during the end of June or beginning of July. In the latest statement released, organizers said: “that is no longer an option” and the festival will not be held “in its original form” this year.
“It is clearly difficult to assume that the Festival de Cannes could be held this year in its original form,” the statement read.
However, the festival promises that when the health crisis passes, “we will have to reiterate and prove the importance of cinema and the role that its work, artists, professionals, film theaters and their audiences, play in our lives.”
