The outbreak of CoronaVirus has virtually upended the cinema industry with the postponement of shooting, extension of new releases and closure of theatres.
In Kollywood also all the stars and workers related to film productions are mostly living at home to contain the spread of the virus. The new development has adversely affected the daily livelihood of film workers. In light of the Corona pandemic, the FEFSI Union, headed by R.K.Selvamani, stated that all film shootings shall stop until the situation comes under control.
Most of the workers in the FEFSI Union earn their wages from daily shoots as salaries. In the current scenario, they were left with no options to earn. On that note, leading stars have been coming forward with their financial aid to support the FEFSI workers. So far, actors like Sivakumar, Suriya, Karthi, and Sivakarthikeyan have donated a few lakhs for the welfare of the daily workers. Recently Superstar Rajinikanth donated an amount of Rs 50 lakhs. Lately, Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi reportedly donated Rs 10 lakhs for the union workers.
Still, it is not clear when the production works will begin, FEFSI waiting for more actors to come forward with helping hand.
