Ayushmann Khurrana-starring new film ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ hit the theatres on Friday, 21 February.
The film was in the news for narrating the ordeal of homosexuals. The film, where Ayushmann essays the role of ‘gay’, has entered in to the second day of its release is being attracted the immense applaud both from the critics and the audience.
But on Saturday, the film once again came to the limelight after the US President Donald Trump lauded the actor and the film.
Taking to Twitter, Donald Trump praised the film in a single word: “Great”.
Actually, Trump was retweeting a tweet posted by LGBT and human rights activist Peter Tatchell about this Ayushman Khurrana-film. Lauding the film, Peter Tatchell tweeted: “India: A new #Bollywood rom-com featuring a gay romance is hoping to win over older people, following the decriminalisation of homosexuality. Hurrah!”
The film marks the debut of Jitendra Kumar who also essays the role of gay apart from him Pankhuri Awasthi too made her debut with this film. The film that is helmed by Hitesh Kewalya also stars Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao among others.
“Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan,” starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar, tells the story of a gay couple’s attempts to win over the approval of their elders. Homosexuality was decriminalised in India only less than a year and a half back, in September 2018. The Trump administration has been working to decriminalise homosexuality around the globe.
