Oscar best film goes to 'Parasite'; Renée Zellweger Best Actress, Joaquin Phoenix Best Actor

‘Parasite’, a South Korean movie, bagged the Best Director, Best International Film and Best Original Screenplay at the 92nd Academy Awards announced early on Monday.

Renée Zellweger won the Best Actress award for her role in 'Judy'. The Best Actor award went to Joaquin Phoenix for his role as a deranged outcast in 'Joker'.

South Korean Bong Joo-ho won the Best Director for 'Parasite', which was in the race on grounds of popularity competing closely with Sam Mendes' war drama '1917' which had all the trappings of an Oscar award movie.

Brad Pitt and Laura Dern earned a place winning the Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards, respectively. Brad Pitt won the award for his performance in 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood', a revisit to the Hollywood of the 70s.

Laura Dern, of 'Jurassic Park' fame, bagged the award for her role in ''Marriage Story'. 'Toy Story 4' received best animated movie.

The Best Documentary award was bagged by 'American Factory', dealing with the takeover of an Ohio production plant by Chinese interests.

The composing team of Elton John and Bernie Taupin also shared an Oscar for their original song for 'Rocketman', the musical drama based on John's life. Matthew Cherry won the award in the Best Animated Short Film with 'Hair Love'
