Tamil film super star Rajinikanth has turned 69 on Thursday. But he made no public appearance not did he hold any public celebration.
His wife Latha briefly interacted with fans outside their Poes Garden residence and distributed sweets. She also thanked all those who sent temple prasadams and wished him well. Rajini usually spends his birthday in a cave in the Himalayas. But this time he did not do so as the production of his new Tamil film Darbar is in full swing. The audio release of ‘Darbar’ was held recently. He did not even issue a statement to his fans.
However, his fans in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and other States celebrated his birthday with fanfare. Rajini movies were screened at many cinema halls. Crackers were burst, sweets distributed and special poojas offered at temples by his Makkal Mandram (fan club).
A host of film personalities, including his contemporary Kamal Hasaan, Abishekh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt, took to Twitter to wish him a long life. Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu and DMK president MK Stalin also tweeted his greetings to Rajini.
