Ayushmann Khurrana's new film Bala is making big waves at the Box Office in India crossing Rs.72 Crore in collections within a week.
The film is galloping to enter the Rs.100 Crore club in India after earned Rs 100 crore at the international market. Ayushmann's brand value and strong word of mouth help film to get noticed in the market. Till Thursday (Day 7), Amar Kaushik's directorial venture collected Rs 72.24 crore.
Bala, which also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in the leads, made a business of Rs 10.15 crore on Day 1. The collection was Rs 1 lakh more than what Ayushmann's last film Dream Girl earned, ie. Rs 10.05 crore. Bala earned Rs 3.76 crore on Friday, bringing its total collection to Rs 76 crore at the box office.
On its second day, Bala made Rs 15.73 crore, which was Rs 5.58 crore more than its Day 1, followed by Rs 18.07 crore on Day 3. However, on Monday, the film saw a huge drop in its collection as it earned Rs 8.26 crore. But then, Guru Purab holiday on November 12, turned out to be a boon for Bala. The Ayushmann-starrer made Rs 9.52 crore on Day 5.
After the holiday, Bala box office collections saw a decline again on its sixth and seventh day. It collected Rs 5.2 crore and Rs 5.31 crore on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
The film tells the story of Bala (Ayushmann Khurrana), a man who is balding prematurely and how he copes with the situation. The film also narrates Bala's relationship with two women played by Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar respectively. It is undoubtedly Ayushmann's film but Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam play second fiddle with such aplomb that they are never put in the shade. The highlight of the film is Ayushmann’s stellar performance which keeps the viewer engaged with the story.
Though two new releases, Marjaavaan and Motichoor Chaknachoor, are now competing with Bala, but Ayushmann, Bhumi and Yami's film dominated the market, despite its low earnings.
'Bala' is Ayushmann's biggest release till date as it opened in 3000 screens across India and more than 550 screens in the international markets.
