Ramanathapuram, Nov 7 : Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan on Thursday said that he has not come to politics in absence of any other shelter.
Unveiling the bust of his father D Srinivasan inside the MNM Skill Development Centre at Thelichathanallur near Paramakudi here on the occasion of his 65th birthday, the actor-turned-politician said his family doesn’t want him to enter politics. "Many know that I have not come to politics in absence of any other shelter," Mr Haasan said.
He said there is dearth of job opportunities for the educated people forcing even the Ph.D holders to apply for the post of sanitary workers.
He appealed to the educated youth not to migrate to other places in search of job opportunities. Instead they should turn as entrepreneurs. We should respect the work we do to earn our livelihood. Nothing is inferior to another. Developing such an attitude will generate more employment opportunities, he added.
Accompanied by his family members, including elder brother Charu Haasan, daughters Shruti and Akshara Haasan, the MNM chief celebrated his birthday at Paramakudi, his native town. He also planted a neem tree sapling in the centre’s premises and hoisted the party flag in the presence of his party workers. Kamal Haasan’s birthday coincided with the death anniversary of his father, who was a criminal defense lawyer. (UNI)
