Hyderabad, Oct 31 : Veteran Tollywood actress Geethanjali passed away at a private hospital in the wee hours here on Thursday due to heart attack.Geethanjali was born in 1947 at Kakinada in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh and she is survived by husband Ramakrishna and a son Adith Srinivas. She acted in hundreds of films in her career in Telugu, Tamil , Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada languages for several decades.
After she made her debut in Hindi with paying guest, Geethanjali worked with all the leading Telugu actors her generation. Geetanjali worked in the Hindi film Parasmani, a Lakshmikant Pyarelal Production. Since her name Mani was already present in the title, the film-maker re-christened her as Geethanjali.
She is famous for her roles in Illalu, Sitarama Kalyanam, Dr Chakravarthy, Abbaigaru Ammaigaru, Kaalam Marindi , Leta Manasulu, Bobbili Yuddham, Devata, Leta Manasulu, Gudachari 116 and Sambarala Rambabu.
She was also a member of the Nandi Award committee.The actress worked with actor Rama Krishna in a few films before marrying him. Her mortal remains will be brought to her residence here and the final rites will be performed this evening.The entire film fraternity expressed shock over the sudden demise of Geethanjali. Many celebrities took to social media to express their grief over her death.(UNI)
