Superstar Rajinikanth’s 168th film has been announced by its producers Sun Pictures on Friday and director Siruthai Siva will helm this project.
The film, tentatively titled ‘Thalaivar 168’ will be started after finished the shooting of his current project ‘Darbar’, directed by AR Murugadoss. Darbar, Rajani’s 167th film is set to hit theatres on Pongal.
Taking to Twitter, Sun Pictures, the production house, share a video to announce their new venture. Sharing the video, the official handle of the production house wrote, "After the blockbuster hits Enthiran and Petta, the mega-hit combo of Superstar @rajinikanth and @sunpictures come together for the third time for Thalaivar 168, Superstar’s next movie, directed by @directorsiva (sic)"
Director Siva was basking in the glory of his latest box office hit, Viswasam with Ajith. Viswasam, which was the third film in the collaboration of Siva and Ajith, was centred on a father who leaves his violent past to make amends with his teenage daughter. The film, which also starred Nayanthara, emerged as a blockbuster at the box office and grossed over Rs 100 crore.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Siva would be working with Suriya for his next. But after Siva was spotted at Latha Rajinikanth's Freedom Schools launch function, the buzz on him teaming up with Rajinikanth gets stronger. With the official announcement from Sun Pictures, fans are eagerly waiting for more about the film. As Rajinikanth's 'Darbar' is all set to release for Pongal 2020, Siva's film with Rajinikanth is likely to release for Diwali 2020.
