The movie which tells the story of India’s space mission, Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Mission Mangal’ has made an impact on box office marking a collection of Rs 200 crore. Mission Mangal, Jagan Shakti-directed film, has become Akshya Kumar’s first film to cross Rs. 200 crore mark, according to the trade pundit Taran Adarsh.
According to the statistics, the movie has surpassed the record of Salman Khan's 2012 film, Ek Tha Tiger. Taking to Twitter, Akshay Kumar noted: "This is such a lovely creative Bhushan...our film, Mission Mangal just like this jigsaw puzzle came together with every piece fitting in perfectly and with your love & appreciation reached the 200 crores milestone."
Mission Mangal was based on India's maiden interplanetary mission - the Mars Orbiter Mission. Giving Akshay Kumar the bigger opener in his life, the film collected Rs 29.16 crore on the date of its release. In a span of 11 days, Mission Mangal, crossed the Rs 150-crore mark.
Apart from Akshay, the movie includes a bevy of stars such as Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen and Kirti Kulhari. The film was a tribute to ISRO's (Indian Space Research Organisation) women scientists for the success of Mars Orbiter Mission.
