Tamil film actor, director Rajasekar passes away

Chennai, Sep 8 : Popular Tamil film actor, cinematographer and director Rajasekar, who has acted in several TV soap operas, including the famous serial 'Saravanan Meenakshi' on Vijay TV, passed away on Sunday morning. He was 61.

Rajasekar has been ailing for some time and was admitted to a private hospital in suburban Porur, where he breathed this morning. He was part of the famous director duo Robert-Rajasekar and the duo had directed several hit films such as 'Palaivana Cholai', 'Chinna Poove Mella Pesu', 'Manasukkul Mathappu' and 'Paravaigal Palavidham'.

The duo began their career as cinematographers and their work on films such
as 'Oru Thalai Ragam' directed by T Rajendar, were still vivid in people's minds.
A multi-faceted personality, Rajasekar was also involved in films as a writer.

He made his acting debut in 1980 classic 'Nizhalgal' directed by famous director
Bharathiraaja in which his popular song 'Idhu oru Ponmaalai pozhudhu' (This
is one fine evening time) rose him into prominence as an actor as well.

Apart from his stint in several Tamil films in the last 40 years, he has also acted
in a number of TV serials telecast by various channels and essayed a prominent
role in the popular Vijay TV serial Saravanan Meenakshi’. The Tamil film fraternity and small screen artistes condoled his death. Popular actor R Sarath Kumar tweeted ''the duo Robert-Rajasekar had entered the industry with a bang and Mr Rajasekar’s demise would leave a vacuum in the industry.''(UNI)
