If there has been a lull in Malayalam movie releases in the past few weeks, the Eid releases that have been lined up will make up for that.
With Eid falling on June 6, there are releases scheduled for June 5, 6 and7. On the 5th, Thottappan will release with Vinayakan playing the lead role. This is a movie about a father and child relationship. The protagonist becomes a guardian to a girl whom he is not related to. Directed by Shanavaz Bavakutty, the film includes Priyamvada, Roshan Mathew and Lal among others. Vinayakan who has been appreciated for his stellar performances is expected to outdo himself in this.
On the 5th also will be released Vinay Fort’s Thamasha. Who can forget Fort’s portrayal of a lecturer in love in the big hit movie Premam? In this movie too he plays the role of a Malayalam professor but this time his role is expected to be different. A romantic comedy, it is directed by Ashraf Hamza.
On the 5th is yet another movie release-that of Children’s Park, a comedy. The males in the lead are Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Sharafudheen and Dhruvan. The female roles are played by Gayatri Suresh, Soumya Menon and Manasa Radhakrishnan. Dharmajan, Joy Mathew, Hareesh Karnaran and Sreejith Ravi are among those in the cast. Produced by Milan Jaleel , the movie is directed by Shafi.
On June 7th Virus by Aashiq Abu will be released. The film about the Nipah outbreak last year was announced and has generated much interest. By a quirk of fate once again there is Nipah outbreak in Kerala just as the date for release draws close. Many popular actors are in this film; they include Revathy Kunchacko Boban, Tovino Thomas, Rima Kallingal, Parvathy, Remya Nambeesan and Asif Ali.
The biggest disappointment however has been the postponement of Mammootty starrer which was to have been an Eid release to June 14th. The delay was caused by post production work being incomplete.
