With the release of first look poster, ‘Darbar’ turned into a befitting Thalaivar movie by clocking millions of views by Rajanikanth fans and movie lovers.

In the movie in which Rajinikanth will most probably play a police officer after 25 years, the lady Superstar Nayanthara was chosen as the female lead. Rajinikanth’s publicist Riaz Ahmed on Monday gave hint that Nayanthara the leading lady in the film.

Title was revealed on Tuesday by director AR Mugugadoss through a poster which was released on Twitter. Darbar, produced by Lyca, is all set for Pongal 2020 release. The first look poster shows Rajinikanth laughing, surrounded by heavy machinery. The poster also shows a police cap, badge, belt, crime scene tape and handcuffs, this may be the first film after 25 years, where Rajinikanth will play a police officer.

The poster carried a catchy punchline “you decide whether you want me to be good bad or worse”. The first look also carried what seemed to be the Gateway of India in Mumbai, hinting that the story might be based in the western metropolis.

Earlier, there were rumours that Keerthi Suresh would be the heroine in the movie as she was the lucky girl for director Murugados in Sarkar.

Nayanthara fans are on cloud nine after the official confirmation of Nayan’s entry into the project. This is third time Nayanthara joining hands with Rajini after Chandramukhi and Kuselan.

Santosh Sivan will crank the camera. Darbar will be Sivan’s reunion with Rajinikanth after Mani Ratnam’s Thalapathi. While Anirudh Ravichander to compose music, Vivek to write songs. As the movie leaves room for action sequences, stunt director duo – Ram and Lakshman – will choreograph the action sections. ‘Darbar’ is slated for a 2020 Pongal release.
