Incidentally the release of the film coincides with the first phase of polling for the lok Sabha elections. The film, which was earlier scheduled for release on April 5, was postponed due to delay in clearance by the Censor board. The movie has been wrapped in controversy with the opposition parties, including the Congress, have contended that the release of the film during the election period amounts to a violation of the model code of conduct. However, the DEc has given a go ahead for the release of the film. Directed by Omung Kumar, the movie traces Narendra Modi’s evolution through various phases of his life, including his enrollment in the RSS, his long stint as Chief Minister of Gujarat, and his elevation to a national role in 2014.
