New Delhi, Mar 28: Akshay Kumar starrer 'Kesari' becomes the fastest Rs 100 crore grosser of 2019 on the box office, trade sources said on Thursday.
''The movie has earned Rs 21.06 crore on Thursday, Rs 16.75 crore on Friday, Rs 18.75 crore on Saturday, Rs 21.51 crore on Sunday, Rs 8.25 crore on Monday, Rs 7.17 crore on Tuesday, and Rs 6.52 crore on Wednesday, taking the grand total to Rs 100.01 crore,'' sources said.
'Kesari' is an action-war film written and directed by Anurag Singh.
It was jointly produced by Karan Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Sunir Khetarpal under the banners of Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, Azure Entertainment and Zee Studios.
The film stars Akshay Kumar with Parineeti Chopra, Mir Sarwar, Vansh Bhardwaj, Jaspreet Singh, Vivek Saini and Vikram Kochhar in supporting roles.
It follows the events leading to the Battle of Saragarhi, a battle between the Colonial British and the Afghan nationals, specifically 21 soldiers of the Sikh Regiment of the British Army and 6,000–10,000 Afridi and Orakzai mountain tribesmen from Afghanistan in 1897. (UNI)
