Priya Prakash’s Oru Adaar Love hits theatres

Pennews

Exactly a year after the release of the song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’, the film Oru Adaar Love has hit the screens on Thursday February 14, on Valentine’s Day.

The movie is the debut film of Internet sensation Priya Varrier who became an overnight sensation in the name of a ‘wink’ scene in the song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’. Priya drew 6,06000 viewers on her Instagram account in a single night after releasing her song on YouTube. Soon, Priya became the most searched Indian personality on Google in 2018. Priya is paired with Roshan Abdul Rahoof and the movie is a story about school day romance.

The film opened on 2000 screens and has been released in three languages- Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil.

Written and directed by Omar Lulu, the love story is majorly set at school. With a bunch of newcomers it deals with Class 12 students and their associations. Newcomers are Priya Varrier, Roshan, Noorin Sheriff, Michelle Anne Daniel, Mathew, Siyad Shahjahan, Vaishak Pavanan among others.

Critics gives a below average verdict to the movie. Except the much acclaimed song, composed by Shaan Rahman, with the winking scene, there is nothing surprising in the movie. The story is about a predictable triangular love. There is everything in the story- emotions, love, laughter. etc...but, nothing sticks with you for long.

After Priya turned into an overnight sensation, Director Omar Lulu made an attempt to use her stardom status. He rewrote his original plot many times and even changed the story around Priya Prakash Varrier and her school crush Roshan. As he overworked on the original script three times, the spirit of the movie might have been lost somewhere. Some critics complained that the director purposely tried to overburden the movie with a lot of nonsense in the name of philosophy.

After the first day, there is a general feeling of disappointment as the audience expected more after all the hype created around Priya.
