Vidya Balan to take a plunge into Tamil with the remake of ‘Pink’

Boney Kapoor, husband of late actor Sridevi, is going to plunge into Tamil cinema as a producer and he announced that Vidya Balan will be the heroine of his debut project, which is the remake of the Hind movie ‘Pink’. The film, tentatively titled 'Thala 59' as it is the 59th movie of Ajith after currently running ‘Viswasam’.

Actress Vidya Balan last seen on screen in Telugu film ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’, a biopic based on NTR’s life.

The hero of the movie will be Thala Ajith. Tamil superstar Ajith will step into Big B’s shoes in the remake. It is said that Ajith had earlier given his word to the late Sridevi (while they were shooting for the Tamil version of 'English Vinglish') that he would collaborate with her husband Boney Kapoor’s company, which is now bankrolling the remake of 'Pink'.

"Happy to introduce Vidya Balan to Tamil audiences. She is paired with Ajith and her role is very special. Shraddha Srinath has also been roped in for a pivotal role. Rangaraj Pandey plays a very important character," Boney Kapoor said in the statement.

Kannada actor, Shraddha Srinath, known for her scintillating performance in U-Turn, can be seen in a pivotal role. Tamil remake will be helmed by H Vinoth of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru fame.

Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu were the star pair of Hindi movie ‘Pink’. The work of Tamil was officially launched in Chennai in December 2018. Shooting is now progressing in Hyderabad.

The film starring actors Rangaraj Pandey, Adhik Ravichandran, Arjun Chidambaram, Abhirami Venkatachalam, Andrea Tariang, Aswin Rao and Sujith Shankar among others. The still untitled movie is set to hit theatres on May 1, 2019.

Though earlier AR Rahman’s name was circulated, now Yuvan Shankar Raja has been signed to compose music. Nirav Shah will crank the camera.
