With Ajith-starrer ‘Viswasam’ is fast going towards Rs.200 crore band in box office, the lady superstar, Nayanthara, also grows into a more solid brand and this time this brand appeal spread across three language in South India-Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
‘Viswasam’ is Nayanthara’s third back-to-back box office block buster after Kolamavu Kokila (KoKo)and Imaikkaa Nodigal.
Critics say the chemistry between Ajith and Nayanthara played a pivotal role in making the Viswasam a crowd puller. History says, whenever Thala Ajith and Nayanthara joined hands together it was always became a super duper hit. In Viswasam, the pair reunited again after nearly five years. Most of the fans enjoyed each and every the combination scene between Ajith and Nayanthara in Viswasam.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala admits that Nayan is one of the reason for audiences to flock into theatres especially the scenes between her and Ajith.
In a tweet, Ramesh Bala reealed the fact: Most impressed with #Lady Superstar #Nayanthara 's looks and acting in #Viswasam
Her styling was perfect..
Her acting, especially the confrontation scene with #Thala #Ajith was fantastic..
She is one of the reasons for the family and women audience flocking to see the movie..
Last time Ajith and Nayanthara were seen together was in the 2013 film, Arrambam. Their previous three films- did splendidly at the box office. Here's an account of the past three films of Thala Ajith and Nayanthara and how they worked on the box office.
Billa – 2007(75 crores), Aegan – 2008( Rs 80 crores) and Arrambam – 2013 (Rs.124 crores)
Before Viswasam, her last two films – Kolamavu Kokila (CoCo)and Imaikkaa Nodigal- which were released in 2018, were both super-hits. Both Imaikka Nodigal and KoKo made worldwide theatrical gross Rs 40 crores each. In a market where male heroes dominate, it is almost unbelievable for heroine oriented films to be succeeded.
Clearly, Nayan is enjoying a golden period in Tamil cinema by creating her own niche. She not only commands a price on par with male stars but she is also getting roles written for her. It was Nayan who created a new market for heroine-centric films with films like Maya, Dora and Aramm in Tamil and it paved the path for films like Nadigar Thilagam, Mohini, Kanaa and Kaatrin Mozhi to be made and marketed by leading distribution companies last year.
She had a clutch of big budget films with big heroes waiting in line. Kolaiyuthir Kaalam and Airaa (Its teaser already clocked 2.4 million views) are heroine centric films, while her Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (Chiranjeevi's 125 film in Telugu) SK13 ( Sivakarthilkeyan film ), Love Action Drama (Malayalam film with Nivin Pauly) ,Thalapathy63 (Atlee film opposite Vijay) are with big heroes of south India and revolves around three languages- Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. With Pongal release, Viswasam, turned out to be a super hit, the year 2019 has started on great note for Nayanthara.
