It is confirmed: Famous Malayalam actor Manju Warrier will play the lead role in Dhanush’s next, Asuran.
Revealing the news on Twitter, Dhanush noted on his official account: “The evergreen Manju Warrier will be playing the female lead. Excited to share screen space and learn from this amazing talent”. But Manju Warrier yet to respond to the news.
Dhanush holds much expectation on ‘Asuran’ after his last movie ‘Maari 2’ was below expectations on box office. Critics say that It will be a treat to watch the two talented actors sharing screen space. Dhanush also revealed that the film's shooting will commence on Republic Day, i.e., January 26, 2019.
With Asuran, the talented Manju Warrier, who is Malayalam’s lady superstar, will take a plunge into Tamil Cinema. Manju made her Malayalam debut in 1995. After gifting many unforgettable characters to Malayalam, Manju took a long break from Malayalam in 1999 at the peak of her career, soon after her marriage with actor Dileep. But she came back again in 2014 with a bang in the film ‘How Old Are You?’. The film later was remade into Tamil with Jyotika as ‘36 Vayadhinile’ in 2015. Manju’s last outing in Malayalam was with Mohanlal in ‘Odiyan’, which was a super hit. Altogether she acted in 34 Malayalam films till now.

Asuran will see the combination of Dhanush and director Vetrimaaran. This will be Dhanush’s fourth film with Vetrimaaran. Earlier three, Polladhavan, Aadukalam and Vada Chennai, were big box office hits.
Dhanush will be seen in a totally different avatar in the film with weird hairdo, tobacco-smeared teeth, holy ash spread across his temple. Dhanush gives too much hope on the character.
Dhanush already said that the film is yet another adventurous one from Vetrimaaran. The makers had revealed the first-look poster of Asuran in December last year where Dhanush is seen with vibuthi-smeared forehead and stained teeth. The film will be bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu, who had recently produced VIP 2.
