‘Virus’: Aashiq Abu’s film on Nipah Virus goes on floors


After the success of the last film ‘Maya Nadhi’, director Ashiq Abu once again comes out with a fresh social theme. The story of the new film ‘Virus’ revolves around the recent Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala in which several dead. Taking a leaf out of the real incident of Nipah virus attack in Kerala, Ashiq Abu, who known for his bold and innovative social theme and modern narrative, will take viewers to a different angle of the story which is about the heroes who fought and contained the deadly Nipah Virus attack through sacrifice.

The shooting of the film has started at the Kozhikode Medical College recently.

An impressive line-up of stars includes Tovino Thomas, Parvathy, Asif Ali, Rima Kallingal, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan, Chemban Vinod Jose, and Remya Nambeesan. Revathy also will play a pivotal role in the movie.

An interesting aspect movie is that actor Fahadh Faasil comes to play a cameo role in the movie.

Aashiq Abu’s wife and actor Rima Kallingal would play the role of Lini Puthussery, the nurse who lost her life during her battle against the deadly disease.

The script is penned by four writers — Sudani from Nigeria’s Muhsin Parari-Zakariya and Varathan’s Suhas-Sharafu. National Award winning cinematographer Rajeev Ravi is behind the camera. The music is composed by Sushin Shyam and editing by Saiju Sreedharan.

Aashiq is producing the film under his own production house ‘OPM’. The makers of ‘Virus’ set the movie to hit theatres during Vishu festival season.

Salt N' Pepper (2011), 22 female Kottayam (2012) and Mayanadi(2018) are the three critically acclaimed films of Ashiq Abu.
