Though shrouded in a political controversy, Vijay’s latest movie ‘Sarkar’ sets the box office ringing.
The movie, which was released on 3000 screens worldwide opened the show with a collection of Rs.30 crore. Overseas, too, the movie reaped good collection, especially in the United Kingdom, France, Middle-East and Australia.
Some trade sources even claimed that the movie broke the record of Baahubali2. But these are yet to be confirmed. In first day collection, Sarkar has surpassed the collection of Baahubali 2 in Tamil Nadu, says some online trade pundits. They also predicted that the Vijay movie may turn into the highest Tamil grosser. This is the third time Vijay and Murugadoss are working together. The movie was released on November 6 for Diwali. But after the political controversy kicked up by AIADMK, more people are eager to watch it.
Sarkar is a high-dose of political drama which was indigestible even for the leading political parties of Tamil Nadu. The reality of politics is shown black and white. The film was a big talking point even during the trailer launch.
But, Sarkar has already attracted mixed reviews. In the movie, Vijay’s character is always talking about politics only. The hero supports fishermen’s suicide, Jallikkattu, Tuticorin protests etc. Hero believes that only the youngsters can save this country. While some reputed critics hail the movie for its political overtones, some critics dumps it as another movie made for Vijay.
