Tamil Nadu information minister and AIADMK MLA Kadambur Raju has come against Vijay’s ‘Sarkar’ and demanded some scenes should be cropped.
Meanwhile, the movie released in over 3,000 screens is making good box office collection. A trade pundit says the gross collection from the premiere shows in the US comes approximately $145,0000 after the first day. The film is expected to make a good amount of money. Most of the reviews across media project the film in good light.
Pouring water over the jubilant mood, Raju, who is the minister of information, asked the makers to remove the controversial scenes or face action. Vijay’s Sarkar is heavily political in nature and the film has taken several digs at the ruling party. The movie is seen as Vijay’s launchpad into politics and the actor is set to follow in steps of several luminaries who have made the switch from films to politics.
Vijay’s Sarkar, which released on November 7th, has made the ruling dispensations see red. Sarkar, released in over 3000 screens around the world, has earned a gross collection of approximately $145,000 just from the premiere shows in the US and the number, after the first day is expected to only go up.
The film has generated immense buzz and thanks to its festive release, it is expected to rake in huge numbers. It released in over 3000 screens around the world and is expected to break records right from its opening day. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the movie also stars Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu and Radha Ravi among others.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “The hugely awaited #Tamil biggie #Sarkar, which opened today, has got fantastic showcasing outside Tamil Nadu as well… In Mumbai, for instance, the plexes have allotted 8, 9, even 11 and 12 shows every day, which is a rarity… The hype is truly tremendous… #SarkarDiwali.”
Another shocking news was that the film leaked on notorious website Tamilrockers that allows downloading of copyrighted content illegally. Vijay fans are asking moviegoers to see the film in theaters instead of downloading it from the torrent website.
In Kerala, the film is running in packed theatres, except an untoward incident of the collapse of superstar’s 50-foot cut out. The 50-foot which was erected before the Ganga Theatre complex by Vijay fans collapsed while the fans performed a ‘paal abhishekam’(pouring milk) ahead of the FDFS (first day first show) of his film Sarkar. Four hours later, the cut out collapsed and damaged 4 bikes parked inside the theatre and the building’s glass windows. Following the cut-out’s collapse, the Ganga Theatre staff rang up the fire force and police who inspected the site. A complaint has also been registered against ‘Vijay Fans Makkal Aykyan Attingal area’ - a fans group operating in the locality.
