Actor Alec Baldwin charged with assault over parking fight

New York, Nov 3: American actor Alec Baldwin has been arrested and charged for assault and harassment after allegedly punching a man during a dispute over a parking spot outside his New York City home.

"Baldwin was taken into custody just before 14hrs on Friday in Manhattan's West Village neighborhood. He was released two hours later. A court appearance has been scheduled for Nov 26," police said, Chicago Tribune reported.

A 49-year-old man sustained an injury to the left jaw after being punched and was taken to a local area hospital to be treated. He's in stable condition, police added. Officials said that the men were arguing and pushing each other before the 60-year-old Baldwin turned violent. The driver of the station wagon told police Baldwin hit him with his hand, but wasn't sure if it was a punch or a slap.

According to police, Baldwin claimed that he had a family member holding the spot when a man driving a station wagon pulled up and took it. This is not Baldwin's first run-in with the law - in 2014, he was arrested for disorderly conduct.

The actor starred in the movie Hunt for Red October and more recently in TV shows 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live. (UNI)
